Impact Assessment and Acoustic Monitoring

Terre-Mer-Veille conducts acoustic impact assessments prior to projects likely to generate noise in the marine environment: seismic surveys, port development, dredging, offshore wind farm operation, pile driving, and vibratory drilling. Our studies are based on precise acoustic propagation modeling tailored to the project and site, incorporating the characteristics of the substrate, water column, bathymetry, and the type of noise source. The impact on marine fauna is assessed in accordance with the most recent MNFS recommendations and available references.

Terre-Mer-Veille also develops solutions for monitoring and control during noisy operations:

– Acoustic monitoring of the soundscape using passive acoustic devices for continuous noise level monitoring and cetacean detection.

– Visual monitoring of sensitive species by human operators from land or on board vessels.

– On-site noise level measurements for spot checks of impactful activities.
